Corporate Sustainability Insights: Palazzo Ripetta’s Commitment to a Responsible Future

In a constantly evolving world, where sustainability has become an imperative for future generations, Palazzo Ripetta stands out for its commitment to integrating environmental, social, and economic responsibility into its daily operations. In this context, the hotel has focused on four key pillars: sustainability, art and culture, local and sustainable gastronomy, and the empowerment of women. Through concrete initiatives, such as adopting a beehive in partnership with Beeing, and offering experiences ranging from dining to cultural activities, Palazzo Ripetta represents a tangible example of how tradition and innovation can coexist harmoniously, promoting positive and lasting change.

What are your values, especially in the field of environmental, social, and economic sustainability?

We have studied and carefully considered the positioning and communication of Palazzo Ripetta, which was inaugurated two years ago, focusing on four fundamental pillars: sustainability, art and culture, local and sustainable gastronomy, and the importance of female empowerment. Every day, we work to put these values into practice, ensuring the satisfaction of both internal guests and external visitors who decide to take advantage of the services offered in our San Baylon restaurant, the garden bar, or the Etere rooftop. Palazzo Ripetta is a historical building dating back to the 1600s, and it has always based its activities on hospitality, community spirit, and support for women in need, thus becoming a landmark for the city and for the Romans themselves.

How did the idea of partnering with Beeing and adopting a beehive come about? What motivated you to undertake this initiative?

With the arrival of the Christmas holidays, one of our main internal objectives is to come up with new ideas, initiatives, and projects that allow us to honor our guests and thank our partners, wishing them and their families peace, harmony, and happiness. Reflecting on the core principles that drive every action we take, we thought of an initiative that would do good for our planet and focus on sustainability, highlighting the importance of bees in protecting the biodiversity of our planet. Initiatives like this are powerful and useful tools to raise public awareness about the importance of the subject, local realities, and small consumers. Consequently, sharing and communicating the initiative was not difficult.

Honey is increasingly seen as a gift symbolizing quality and sustainability. What does it represent for you, and how do you think it can be impactful as a corporate gift for Christmas or other holidays?

Honey is an integral part of our diet and nutrition. At Palazzo Ripetta, it is always present, starting with the most important moment of the day: breakfast. It is also used in some of the desserts served on the menu of our San Baylon restaurant and is available during afternoon tea. This year, for all those who stay with us during the holiday season, honey will represent a gift and a sweet reminder to take home. Behind each jar, there is a meaningful message: the importance of caring for ourselves, others, and the environment around us. To this end, during the honey harvesting period, we would like to organize a visit to our beehive with the Palazzo Ripetta team and their families, to raise awareness among even the youngest about the importance of such an action, which we hope will yield positive and concrete results.

What is the key message you would like to convey to anyone wishing to undertake similar initiatives and approach the theme of environmental sustainability?

Palazzo Ripetta is a member of the international association Relais & Châteaux, a family of over 500 hotels and restaurants worldwide, where sustainability is a key value, and it is a concept that lies at the heart of many initiatives planned for 2025. At Palazzo Ripetta, we follow the philosophy of living in harmony with all forms of life on our planet, and we believe that the only way we can safeguard the future of the next generations is by taking actions that respect others and the environment around us. And that is what we should all be doing.

Palazzo Ripetta has shown that commitment to sustainability is not just a trend but a true way of life that reflects in everyday choices. The partnership with Beeing and the introduction of honey as a symbol of quality and environmental commitment are just some examples of how the hotel contributes to raising awareness and protecting our planet. The key message that Palazzo Ripetta wants to convey is that every small gesture, if done with awareness and responsibility, can have a significant impact. The invitation to anyone who wishes to undertake similar initiatives is clear: working in harmony with the environment and the community is the only way to build a better future for the next generations.
